HEALTH EDUCATION

As a part of teaching in schools, we wanted to organize educational workshops for children since 2020. However, the coronavirus pandemic thwarted our plans. That is why we have moved our educational programs to the form of the radio show. Residents and students of the Nebbi district are then informed on the radio about the possibilities of prevention and are educated about health even when their schools are closed. The content of the workshop varies according to the age group. However, we focus primarily on personal hygiene, nutrition, reproductive health, menstruation or sexually transmitted diseases.

WE TEACH ABOUT PREVENTION THROUGH THE RADIO

Thanks to the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, we rent space on Ugandan radio in 2021. We plan to broadcast pre-recorded audio workshops on health and prevention in Nebbi for children of all ages, who can thus be educated directly from home.

WHO IS THIS PROGRAM FOR?

The content of audio workshops varies according to age group as follows:

FOR THE YOUNGEST

FOR TEENAGERS

We want to educate younger children in the field of personal hygiene and body care. At the same time, we want to focus on nutrition and vaccinations - what it brings them and why it is good to follow the doctor's instructions.

As soon as it is possible to organize workshops live, we would like to bring a change to the classes. Therefore even after our departure, teachers will record on the board how children are doing, and everyone who will follow the principles of hygiene will be rewarded.

We have prepared a workshop on reproductive health for older children. For example, menstruation is a highly taboo subject. In many villages, the girls stay at home and do not go to school. We want to teach children that this is a natural process.

We will also focus on planned parenthood, sexually transmitted diseases (and how to prevent them), pregnancy, and reopen the issue of nutrition and hygiene.
